Directions

We are located a short distance off the A40 between Gloucester and Ross on Wye, near the Gloucestershire/ Herefordshire border.

If you are coming via Gloucester, you will drive down the A40 towards Ross on Wye. After 7.6 miles you will drive through the village of Huntley. In another 1.5 miles, there will be a turn off to your right which is sign posted May Hill/ Clifford’s Mesne.

Follow this road up the hill for another half a mile until you reach a church building on your right-hand side (with solar panels on the roof). Immediately after this, you turn into a lane on the right (Folly lane). We are located on this lane.
We have a two bedroom, self contained safari tent available for up to 4 guests, nestled into a woodland valley on beautiful May Hill. Our site is a short walk from the summit of May Hill and backs onto extensive ancient woodlands, providing a unique, tranquil and secluded woodland retreat close to the Forest of Dean and Wye valley.

The space includes a king size bed and two singles, self contained kitchenette (fully equipped with fridge, kettle and toaster), sofa and table and chairs as well as several outdoor seating areas and a fire pit available for guests. There is an outdoor amenities area consisting of a dry composting toilet cabin, gas shower cabin and hand basin 15m from the tent. The site overlooks a private woodland valley and links to an extensive network of walking tracks to explore woodlands, lakes and the iconic summit of May Hill.

Things to do

The site is located within the ancient woodlands of May Hill, Gloucestershire, situated between the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and Severn vale. There is access to 1500 acres of natural woodland via a network of walking tracks with access to lakes, glades, woodland valleys with streams, and the May Hill summit.

The safari tent is located on both the Gloucestershire way and Wysis way walking trials, so it is a perfect overnight stay for long distance walkers.
