We are now affiliated with the Freedom Camping Club and continue to offer 5 grass pitches for visiting tents, caravans, campers, motor homes and trailer tents. The remainder of the campsite is given over to our own bell tents complete with tented dining area. You can book via the Freedom Camping Club website just click on the name.
Showers are on a pre-paid card system; please see staff to purchase cards.
We allow fires and Barbecues. All we ask is the barbecue or fire pit is off the ground and does not burn the grass of the campsite. We do have some fire pits for hire on a first come first serve basis. There is a limited supply of firewood available but due to the scarcity of wood we cannot guarantee we will have bagged wood for sale. A fire pit rental would be £5 for the duration of your stay.
The site has 4 bell tents each with a separate dining area complete with seating and table, they are now furnished. For those that want to take the hassle out of camping on arrival or departure, less baggage in the vehicle or for those that want to try camping under canvas for the first time.

Waste Policy. We will provide facilities for recycling clean glass, paper, cardboard, metal cans and plastic bottles/containers. We do not have facilities for disposing of actual BBQ’s and any other broken, wet damaged or unwanted camping equipment and will not accept it; we ask you take this home. We also do not accept empty gas canisters at all, please take them home as well.

No empty gas canisters under any circumstances.
Firepits brought in by customers must sit a minimum of 300mm off the ground as the damage to grass is severe due to the heat given. low level patio style firepits not accepted.

The campsite was empty when I was there except for one caravan at the entrance. On arrival I couldn't find anyone though a white van arrived whilst I was searching. I didn't see any welcome instructions and I wasn't quite sure if I was at the correct place. When the van pulled in a man driving it told me to go and pitch my tent in the far corner of the camping field. A lady then got out of the passenger seat and greeted me by name so then I felt reassured I was at the correct place. I asked if I could camp nearer the toilet / wash block as the site was empty and it was agreed. Overall I felt the amenities were average.

Great location to access Thomas Hardy's birthplace and walk the Dorset countryside. A quiet, clean Campsite. I'd be happy to recommend to other campers.
