Stroxworthy Farm Campsite,
Woolsery Bideford
Devon EX39 5QB

Heading south from Bideford on the A39, towards Bude, after 7 miles at Bucks Cross, turn left signposted Woolsery. Continue two miles into village. At the crossway, with school facing you, turn left. Bear right at first junction signed Ashmansworthy. Continue down hill and up other side taking first left signed Stroxworthy. Go down hill and immediately after the corner take first turning right up private concrete drive. Continue up drive for about 400 yards the site is at the brow of the hill.
Our site is simple and basic but has 5 fully serviced pitches, some with hard standing so you can expect a comfortable stay. There are 5 hook ups available for tents and all pitches are flat and south facing. The large Devon hedge surrounding the site offers much shelter from the weather. We have a shower room, two toilets and a room for washing dishes, plus a small shed for your recycling and rubbish. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead while on site. Within a short drive there are many local walks for dogs on footpaths, forestry’s and woodlands.
We have the most spectacular views of the rolling Devon landscape reaching as far as Dartmoor which is more than 25 miles away. The night sky makes dramatic viewing on a clear night as there is no light pollution near to us.

The site is in a rural location down a private lane so it is a real hideaway of a spot. We are just 3 miles from the A39 Atlantic Highway so access is easy but please note there are some narrow lanes to pass through before you arrive. Set within Stroxworthy Farm the fields around the campsite are grazed by the herd of predominantly Friesian and Brown Swiss cows, milked by the 6th generation of the same family to farm here.

Things to do

The village of Woolsery has an excellent village shop for all your essentials and some luxuries too; the’ Farmers Arms’ which is well known for its beautiful food, friendly staff and stylish ambiance & just outside the village we have ‘Woolsery Milk’ where fresh milk is available from a vending machine every day. Merry Harriers Garden Center is open every day and they also have a busy restaurant.

We have plentiful stunning local beaches: Sandymouth, Bude, Westward Ho! Dramatic cliff formations at Hartland Quay. There are pretty villages including the cliff side village of Clovelly . The Tarka Trail offers bike hire at Bideford, Barnstaple or Torrington . Tamar Lakes offers Water Sports, fishing, Park Runs and relaxing. With Bude and Bideford close by there are many nice places to relax just for a coffee or for a really special meal. Appledoor is a haven of interesting little shops, houses and galleries. There are many events locally through the year such as Woolsery Agricultural Show, Bude Lifeboat Festival, Bideford Soap Box Derby and many more.

We stayed 3 nights at this quiet, friendly, adults-only campsite on a hard-standing pitch. The site is pleasant, well-maintained and the facilities simple but very clean. We were welcomed by two long-stay campers, who ensured we had plenty of information about the site and the locality. The views from the site are of pleasant, wooded hills and surrounding fields. There is one shower/toilet and one separate toilet, which means facilities are limited but the site wasn't full and we never found it a problem. Excellent recycling facilities and a small washing-up room with a microwave. The owner, Jane, was also friendly and helpful, keeping in touch with what is going on at the site, as they live along the lane. Near to the North Devon coast path and the Tamar Lakes.
