Langford Farm

Show route map from
A five acre field with only two gorgeous furnished bell tents. Lots of space, peace and freedom. Campfire firepits beside each tent and everything you need supplied.

Each bell tent has proper bedding on a king-size mattress (real mattress in Bell Tent 1 and a modern air-filled king-size in the more basic Bell Tent 2). All kitchen items supplied so all you need to bring is food, clothes and a good book.

The tipi is available for the exclusive use of occupants of Bell Tent 1. It is an amazing 18ft wide space with a gravel floor and seating around a fire bowl. A campfire in there on a wet weather day or evening is fabulous and there is plenty of room to store and dry your belongings so that your Bell Tent stays free of clutter during your stay. There is a table in the tipi so that you can eat your meals and play games out of the rain if you are unlucky enough to have a wet stay.

The tipi easily seats 10 people around the central open fire bowl so if you wanted to come as a group and hire both bell tents you will have no worries about fitting everyone in.

Your campfire is at the heart of your stay, fully kitted out with campfire cooking grill, tripod and hanging kettle. If you have always wanted to learn how to cook using a campfire this is the place to come and practise. Properly dried wood is provided for your first night then more can be purchased on site along with kindling and marshmallow sticks.

The facilities:

Brilliant compost loos (you will have your own private one). All visitors to the site have raved about these, especially those that had never used a compost loo before. One visitor said it was the nicest smelling loo he had ever been in! They are modern separator loos that smell only of sawdust and the wood that the building is made from, as well as the bunches of sweet peas that we put in! If you have doubts, maybe you have never used a compost toilet before and imagine the worst, maybe you have used one that was not a modern and brilliant Thunderbox compost toilet, either way come and give these a try and see if we can change your mind about the joys of a compost loo!

Shared washing up sink cold water only. You can boil the kettle either over the fire or on the gas hob to fill the basin with warm water.

Where are we?

Harberton is a small village 3 miles south west of the historic market town of Totnes, in the South Hams District of Devon. We are west of the village, down country lanes. Half an hour by car to the beach, half an hour to Dartmoor, half an hour to Plymouth and half an hour to Exeter. Even though we are in the middle of nowhere we really are in the centre of everything!
